Important Tips to Take Care of, While Using Public Washrooms

Daily or occasionally we all use public toilet, not just the ones made by government by street sides, railway stations or in district centres; but in our offices, in malls, in trains, in plains, etc. It’s a common habit and perception of majority of us to take care of and check the hygiene and sanitization of such toilets in crowded and busty public areas like on tourist spots, in trains, in public markets; while when it comes to well maintained, seemingly clean places like malls, offices, etc., we tend to become ignorant and overlook the hygiene concerns. This attitude and ignorance is not good, all those toilets which are used frequently are prone to bacterial infections and thus, while using them we need to be conscious and undertake some preventive steps. The concern of sanitization is more important for the toilet sits where you have to sit on the pot to use it, as it involves maximum and closest exposure to the germs and bacteria.

Here are some very easy tips by using which you can keep yourself safe from the germ and bacterial attack and thus, help yourself stay healthy:
Always flush the toilet before using it, whether it appears to b clean or not. Flushing the toilet will get you rid of the inside taint.
Lift the seat before using it
Sanitize the toilet seat before using it.
Wash yourself well and dry yourself with the toilet paper.
Flush the toilet after use
Wash your hands and dry them.
Preferably use a sanitizer after using such a toilet.
Following these tips and giving out 2 extra minutes in the toilet may take you extra time, but that time is worth your effort. A waiting boyfriend/girlfriend or the hurry to catch up with your friends or to get back to work or to get back to the movie before it starts; give yourself 1 extra second to think is that urgency of yours really so important to use a unhealthy toilet and/or leave it unhygienic for others and give way to diseases and infections.

“Swachha Bharat” A dream aim or just a drive of willpower – things to do

Hit and hot in the news and talks these days, Swaccha Bharat/Clean India is what we all would love to see and talk about; but how many of us is giving it an earnest effort of thought and initiatives. Why only the Taj is seen clean, won’t it look lovely if the whole Agra would be clean? Think of the day whole Connaught Place, India Gate, Chandni Chowk gullies, the Sarojni market be all clean. Why only think of clean NCR; beaches of Mumbai, villages, religious places, cities, metros… whole country be clean. Give it a thought and say won’t you love to see the roads, highways, malls, local markets, gardens, government offices and colleges; be all clean and equally presentable as are those abroad; that we excitedly visit and admire.

Its true all of us cannot go out, clean the roads and all; yet joining hands with the movement isn’t that tough. All it needs actually is just an honest effort. Here we bring you 8 things to do to support and join the movement:

1. Start with your home: As goes the common saying, first step in any work starts at your own home. Keep your own room, your house and premises clean first. Please don’t be so specific to just keep your house clean, the surrounding, and the society also should be taken care of, so do keep the environment clean.
Swear to keep your house and society clean, make it the most beautiful place in the world.

2. Join the Chain: Well the most admirable and sincere of all efforts to contribute to the Swacch Bharat movement is join the chain by stepping out with a shovel and join the chain of Swacch Bharat mission. Call your friends and family to join you in the work. And invite your friends to undertake
pick an area suffering from garbage, pollution and contamination; clean it.

3. Stop Littering: More or less we all litter around; throwing chips and chocolate wrappers, tea/coffee cups, cigarette buts, combed off hairs, empty bottles, soda cans, etc. by roadsides, from train/car windows, etc. all the time participating in debates and discussions we blame the municipal authority and workers and the government for the dirty areas and roads and polluted rivers, and forget all the time we dumped litter around.

Well, blaming is easy of all, instead we can make a very small and sincere effort of carrying a polybag or paper bag with us for litter in our cars or along with our luggage or in our bags while out and use dustbins when in home/office.

Swear not to litter and not let others litter as well.

4. Preserve the Monuments: We are very lucky to have inherited such a proud and glorious history in inheritance which dates back to several centuries. Instead of showing our gratitude to the precious monuments and heritage sites we visit, what is the most common scene is seeing people around littering or scratching the stones to engrave their names, which is not only stupid but very reckless. As responsible citizens accept them as your own inheritance and pledge to preserve them.
Stop Spoiling Monuments and Heritage Places, teach your children the same and stop others as well from doing so.

5. Dump garbage systematically: Keeping your house clean does not mean to dust and wash your own room/house and dump the dust and garbage on road or in fields or under the trees around. Please resist such lazy and reckless temptations. If the municipality has not placed dustbins in your locality, you along with you society members can afford to do so. It won’t seek a heavy investment.
Swear to dump garbage only in dustbins and help the municipal corporation, keep your area clean.

6. Stop Public Urination: This is both disgusting and unhygienic. In villages where there are no toilets, such act is understandable, but in civilized societies, such act is not justified. Well this point may sound stupid and irrelevant, but is equally important.
Swear not to urinate in public and stop others as well. For contingent situations carry bottles.

7. Turn it into a social buzz: This movement is not just any government plan, come on people it is about getting your city, your country clean; to make it stand and match up with the preventability of Singapore, England, America, and Australia… Hit this topic up and turn it into the next social buzz. Once selfies with Jharu/brooms and in cleaning pose become a style statement, even for the pose a lot of cleaning and awareness will be done.

8. Get Ecofriendly and recycle: Have you ever given it a thought, how much of trash you create and the amount of harm you to do to our environment. Practically it’s true we cannot all get 100% Eco savvy and stop using refrigerator, ac, cars, all products of plastic, leather, etc. Yet there are many small things we can incorporate in our life style and bring down the amount of trash we create. Such gestures could be planning your needs aptly and thus buying only what we need; recycling plastic and glass bottles, containers, car tubes and tires, etc.
Pledge to create minimal trash and recycle as much as you can. Also, if possible try to adapt a tree in your society.

Other things to do could be to paint the roadsides/footpaths or areas once cleaned by the municipal staff and beautify it, place notices on wall/public toilets, create awareness, inspire the shopkeepers to refrain selling trash products and not to give plastic bags.

Out on a Date with Roses

IMG_6147While on my expedition to the southern region of India, far from the daily stress and hustles of my hectic schedule and work; I came across tranquil solitude and beauty. In the unwinding milieu of Ooty, I discovered beauty, love, peace, solace, comfort and relaxation. Drifting in the role of a wanderer I was gathering all the ingredients that fill your bosom high-up to make you happy and bring tears of joy in your eyes without your even realizing what just happened. Ahhh…. Feasting my eyes on the serene green beauty of the rolling down landscape, visiting the tea gardens, boating in the lake, giving my regards to the overwhelming beauty of clouds and forests with my camera on a non-stop click job; there I was lying in the bed on the second night of my trip, checking for the itinerary of the third day. On the top of the list was a visit to the rose garden for 3 hours. 3 hours in a rose garden! Haahhhh… What for, while there is so much more around to see and to explore? I thought.

How could I even think of that? That expression was so stupid of me, reflecting the unaware, reckless side of me. Well, but there I arrived at the garden with a preset mind to spend around 2 hours winding things up as soon as possible and save myself time to cover the others attractions of the city. The moment I entered the garden and threw a sight at the area of the garden, the first reaction was WAOOWW… Such a huge and beautiful garden, Woooh and all other thoughts and programs were gone.

I stepped down the stairs looking at the lovely beauties, innocent, pure, perfect and matchless.

Smiling, shying away, each of them said a hello. The garden was very well maintained. The only regret I had at that moment was why this August is and not May, that flowering season, when these delicate beauties are at their best. While meeting every row, every column and coming across the various plants and specie; I was awed at the brilliance of nature, at the excellence the Almighty, which He has shown in the great variety and collection of such roses across the world, put together and displayed beautifully in the Rose Garden of Ooty. Without a doubt, the Rose garden is a walking Paradise layered with fragrant roses.

By the time I got a call from my driver that it’s time for the next spot and we are losing time; I realized that I was not just on a visit there, but I was in love, on a date with the roses of Ooty. With a very heavy heart I said bye to my darlings, with a promise to return to them as soon as possible and this time in the peak season, when they would be at their youth and I’ll have my whole days for them, committed with honesty and love.

How to Make Your Life Happier and Healthier

IMG_3229We all want to stay fit, look attractive and presentable. But anyone with a healthy body only can look fit, attractive and happy.

Staying happy and healthy in today’s stressful world is no more than easy, but there are some simple and effective things to do that work magically t our surprise. Here is a list of 15 easy and effective tips for a healthy and happy life:

• Drink at least 4-6l of water. Drinking water is one of the first tips you are given in context of many health related queries like acidity, skin problems like pimples, etc. Doctors say taking 2 glass of lukewarm water helps cool down the overnight heat of digestive system and also curbs acidity.

• Follow good eating habit. Your eating habit is a big determinant of your health to your knowledge or surprise. Do not drink water immediately after eating; instead keep a gap of at least 25-30 minutes. After eating do not immediately sit down or lie in the bed, take a little walk at least 10-15 minutes.

• Eat healthy and keep your diet balanced. Avoid eating stale and junk. Include more of fresh vegetables, fruits and salad in your diet. If you take a heavy meal or consume more than suggested calories (in parties, outings, etc.) compensate it with a walk of 30 minutes or more or do a little exercise later. And also balance your next meal with least amount of calories, taking in only salad or fruits as your next meal.

• Take 5 minutes of relaxation to meditate or just breathe in and out. Today’s life is all full of stress and it is no more possible to totally stay away from them. What is the need of time is to know how to deal with tension and anxiety. Practice a 5 minute relaxation and the best medicine to fight with stress is regular meditation and the simplest is to breathe in and out and relax your mind by pulling out all thoughts and emotions for that time and let your heart and mind be still, whenever you feel stressed. And there are many more such tips to use and practice to effectively deal with tension and anxiety.

• Sleep for 7-8 hours a day. Our body, parts and systems, all works very hard all day long and the sleep is inevitable requirement of the body to relax and restore the energies for the next day’s job.

• Think positive and be an optimistic. Future is totally unpredictable and uncontrollable; you cannot plan and handle everything. So, what best is do the right things, don’t foster grievances and grudges. Hope for the best and be prepared for the worst.

• Keep the stirring of your life in your own hands and don’t let others drive your happiness, energy and life. Believe in yourself, appreciate and cherish what all life has given you, don’t make yourself sad comparing your life with others, and most importantly do not get driven by others’ suggestions and advice for your house/work/life. Do hear what others’ are suggesting and telling, but do not let them drive you; take your own decisions considering what is really needed and what suits you and your life.

• Don’t over exert yourself. It is very important to know your limits and priorities your work and life accordingly. Do the job as per your capabilities, knowing what is important and what is not; what can you do on your own and for what you would need a help; know when and where to etc.
